It's Here!

The cookbooks arrived about a week ago! I have been wanting to put a picture up, but they are Christmas gifts. Oh the dilemma :) Since we are selling the extras for $10.00 and they make nice Christmas gifts I decided to wrap them up and give them to my family for Thanksgiving. Everyone enjoyed looking through them. I loved how the cover turned out. Since the immediate family has theirs already I though it would be safe to post. Many more are in the mail or waiting until it is a little closer to Christmas to mail out.

The project took about a year and a half or so to complete. I took most of the Summer off so it could have been done a little sooner.

My sister and mom already knew friends wanted to buy a few for Christmas so I am glad they arrived early! I have a box of 42 in my car and two boxes of 48 still in the house.

Christmas Tree 2008

Yep, It's up already :) The next few weekends are going to be busy, so we get to enjoy the tree it for an extra couple of weeks. Usually we try for the weekend after Thanksgiving, but with church, concerts, and one less weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas this was the weekend open. I am glad it is done! Actually the boys did most of it this year. Older son did the whole outside and both worked on the tree. By the time I had my ornaments out of their boxes most of theirs were up.

I so enjoy going through all the ornaments each year. It takes me so long because I am always telling the kids the story of when we got each. I love the homemade ornament the best. My brother makes me a wooden ornament each year and my friend in Canada has made me a couple of the most beautiful ornaments. I have made a few and the kids have too. I love my picture ornaments too. I have one of the kids since they were born. We have a couple of new ones this year already from our trip. I try to pick up ornaments when ever we travel. Taking out the ornaments is one of the highlights of my holiday! I will have to go take a couple of close up ones now :)

Our Christmas Village

The kids put the village up this year. They did a good job. Now we just have to keep Milo away. He was good last year. When we go for the day on Thanksgiving we will pick up the smaller pieces just in case he gets board.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Going In To Vote 2008

Signed In & Ready To Vote

Voting Day!

We were up and ready to go by 7:55 this morning. It really lends a lot of excitement to the race as your children get old enough to vote. Older son voted four years ago, but there was a problem with his paper work and he was not able to vote for president. He had the paper with him that showed he registered, but he wasn't in the system. They let him vote, but was told he couldn't vote for president only the others on the ballot. Funny the government didn't loose his name when he had to register for the military at 18, but couldn't get it together for him to be able to vote for president. Needless to say he was pretty disappointed. So even though he has voted in the past this year was the first time he was able to vote for president. It is one of those times you realize you child is an adult. I still see him as my little boy when I look at him, but the world sees him as an adult. In four years younger son will be voting too. I can't quite believe it. We have talked about this election for two years now. I am glad we were finally able to go vote.

I expected long lines. I was very surprised to pull into a parking space and go right in. We stopped for a picture with our traveler friends in front of the building. When we went in they pulled up our names right away and I asked if they minded me taking a picture. All 4 judges said they did not mind. There was no one behind us in line. As soon as I took the picture, the other side came over and told me it wasn't allowed :) Last year they were thrilled to see the kids and travelers. This year people are pretty tense. At least I took the one picture. In 4 years I will be back and ask again because it will be younger son first turn :) Maybe by then people will lighten up a little.

GO VOTE!!!

This picture is from 2 years ago. It was older son's first time voting. This will be his first presidential vote. He is excited to be able to have his vote count. This will be younger son's last election for president he will have to sit out. He wants to be able to vote so badly. He definitely has been following this election. Our flat travelers will be up early tomorrow to come vote with us.

I think we have taken our right to vote so casually in America over the years. I hope anyone who is legally eligible to vote will get out there tomorrow. We live in a country where we have so much freedom. I am thankful!
